I recently installed windows live messenger now it wont open?

It worked before but the past few days i've tried opening it from the icon on the bottom right hand side of the screen and also on the shortcut and on the start menu but it just wont open! Why is this? And what can i do to fix it? Help would be very much appreciated :)
