Accidentally ended something important on computer what do I do?

Okay I was trying to stop somethings from running so my Youtube videos would load quicker. Well I brought up task manager and looked through Processes. I saw something that said explorer. I thought it meant Internet Explorer. Well I hit end program and now all my desktop shortcuts are gone and the thing at the bottom where the start menu is gone and I white. Do I just restart my computer or do I have to do something else.
