Any squirrel experts out there?

There is this young squirrel in my backyard that keeps hiding in different spots. I have a beagle mix dog and when I let him out to play there was a squirrel on my back porch which usually isn't a big deal because they just run away but this one freaked and ran in my house then out then to my back yard and wouldn't move from that spot for hours. My boyfriend shooed it into the neighbors yard so my dog could go out and play and apparently it came back cuz my dog had it in his mouth. He didn't harm it and he dropped it so my bf shooed him and he went up the roof. He has a mom because I've heard her and she almost attacked my dog. He came back this morning and is currently hiding under my mini greenhouse. What should I do? I don't want to harm it but I also don't want my dog getting it and I can't keep him in all day. Do squirrel renovate deal with this situation? It's driving me crazy!
