How do i get my desktop shortcuts to re-appear? ive miraculously managed to sidestep VIRUS to activate IE, but?

all my shortcuts and favourites have disappeared, and im being phukked around by something calling itself 'windows xp repair'....which looks like some kind of fake anti-virus scan.
